OTONOMI Team Interview Series: Meet Domenick Packett, Lead Senior Software Engineer
- Who are you?
My name is Domenick Packett. I grew up in central Virginia, where I attended UVA and received a bachelor’s degree in physics and neuroscience. I started out my career as a computational engineer, designing simulations of neural networks. After that, I spent about ten years as a software engineer, in web and mobile development.
Several years ago, my wife and I relocated to the NYC area, where she was hired as a psychology professor at Rutgers University. I then spent some time as an entrepreneur, working as a consultant and a lead developer on several startup projects. I was attracted to Otonomi because it’s a high-tech startup developing innovative solutions to real-world problems. It was a great fit for me and my background and I came on as lead software engineer in January.
2. Describe yourself in four words:
I would describe myself as curious, compassionate, innovative, and driven.
3. How have you changed since you started Otonomi?
As a lead developer, I have taken on more responsibilities and have had the creative freedom to lead new initiatives and tackle difficult technical problems. Working with such a talented team on a disruptive technology has been extremely rewarding so far.
4. Where will you be in 2 years?
I see myself continuing to lead the engineering team at Otonomi in new directions. I hope to improve our internal processes and produce solutions to the engineering challenges that we face. I want advance our data-driven processes and develop new internal AI tooling for the team.
5. What does success look like for the company?
Success for the company will be growing the adoption of our platform and continuing to produce innovative insurance products for our clients.
